CPEC project is basically an initiative by the Chinese Government to modernize the infrastructure in Pakistan through the construction of transportation networks, energy projects and special economic zones. The project which was established in 2013 is successfully being executed according to plan. While, the project on its own is a remarkable endeavor the mechanism at which it is operating is quite an achievement on its own.
As most of you are aware of that Pakistan and China have a discrete linguistic background and substantial cultural differences as well. Overcoming these differences and running the project smoothly is a great achievement on the behalf of the Pakistani and Chinese government. Our research focuses on the communication methods used to effectively communicate to achieve the project goals and objective regardless of the language, culture and geographical barriers. Albeit, Pakistan shares border with China, both countries have entirely different culture along with other major differences related to organizational structures, leadership and communication patterns and models.Despite ever-growing friendship between two countries in form of strategic alliances, these differences still occur. Due to these differences, major practices related to HR, leadership, team management and communication differ and are widely studied by the researchers. These practices on the other hand impact workplace relationships in Pakistani and Chinese organizations.
One of the major aspects which are affected by these cultural differences is communication. Studying communication is important as every aspect or function involves a certain type of communication; direct or indirect. Be it the planning phase, organizing or leading and monitoring, communication with other stakeholders is inevitable. It is important for the government of both sides to focus on reducing communication barriers for smooth flow of the project work as well as timely completion of the project.
